Project leader – Wageningen University & Research, The Netherlands
I am an interdisciplinary researcher combining concepts from water resources management, agricultural water management and sociohydrology. I focus on developing knowledge tools that can empower actors in water-for-food governance to take timely and informed actions for anticipating and responding to water-related problems such as drought.
My role on 3DDD involves overall coordination and supervision of PhD students. Since my own PhD research I am fascinated by the various ways in which the people of Northeast of Brazil are dealing with drought. Increasing drought preparedness requires systematically analysing human and natural influences on the emergence and evolution of past drought situations.
